Swedish player Michael Tureniec was introduced to poker in 2003 when a friend taught him the rules of Limit Hold ‘em. Interested in games such as Blackjack, and poker quickly became more than a hobby but a hubby for him. He improved his knowledge of the game by reading as many poker books and forums as possible, and built his bankroll by playing No Limit Holdem tournaments online. By 2006, he could support himself financially by playing poker and decided to make it a full time career.Poofs to college and that sort of thing.

Michael got his new career off to a promising start, cashing in his first World Series of Poker appearance at the 2007 Main Event.And he's continued the beat. He made his first major cash one year later at the

2008 European Poker Tour when he placed 2nd in the £5,200 Main Event in London and walked away with over $960K in prize money.

Later that year, he won the €1,000 No-Limit Hold 'em event at the

Master Classics of Poker in Amsterdam for more than $200K.

Michael started 2009 with promising results, placing 19th in the Aussie Millions AUD $10,000 No-Limit Hold 'em event, which awarded over $35K.

In August 2009, Michael reached the final table of the Partouche Poker Tour II

Grand Final in Cannes for 133K ($191K),

then repeated the feat

16 days later at the £3,010 English Poker Open in Nottingham for a further £121K ($202K).

In November 2010, the Swede won the

2K No Limit Hold ‘em event at the EPT Barcelona for 140K ($191K).

The following February he was once again celebrating success at an EPT event, taking down the EPT Copenhagen Main Event for DKK 3.7 million ($686K).

Michael has also established himself as a solid online poker player. He has had several impressive cashes in online tournaments, including a

2nd place finish in a Full Tilt Poker $750,000 Guarantee tournament for more than $80K.

Michael also enjoys playing ring games online, preferring the faster pace they offer in comparison to tournaments.
